St. John Hospital
|

The St. John Hospital and Medical Center (SJH&MC) Guild is a volunteer organization established in 1948. Its stated purpose was “to afford members an outlet for the practice of their Christian and civic charity toward the sick by striving in every way possible to assist the Sisters of St. Joseph (a sponsoring congregation of SJH&MC) in establishing and maintaining St. John Hospital.
What Does the Guild Do?
The Guild plays an important role in the development and expansion of health care services offered to the community by SJH&MC. The organization raises money to help support patient care programs and services. Over the years, the Guild has raised millions of dollars for the hospital. Its major fundraising event is the annual Guild Dinner, first held in 1961. The Guild also sponsors other events throughout the year in support of the hospital. Money raised has been used to purchase much-needed equipment and fund innovative new programs.
Leadership and Membership
The Guild operates under the leadership of its officers and board of directors. SJH&MC administration is represented. Active participation from the members is essential to its success. Guild members make an immeasurable difference in the lives of others through their hard work and team effort. Working together, they also form new friendships and enjoy the camaraderie of dedicated, caring individuals. “Friend-raising” is as much a part of the Guild as fundraising.

The Guild recently presented a $150,000 check to SJH&MC from proceeds from the annual golf outing, dinner dance and other fundraising activities.
