St. John Health provides early identification and treatment of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke.
St. John Health hospitals have the ability to use t-PA, a clot buster medication, to treat acute stroke.
In addition, St. John Hospital has established a Stroke Center for monitoring the care delivered to stroke patients, and ensuring that it is provided in a timely manner.
At St. John Hospital, stroke care is provided by a board-certified, or board qualified physician with special expertise in caring for the acute stoke patient as well as other healthcare professionals which may include: a registered nurse, physician's assistant, or nurse practitioner, who have experience in caring for the acute stroke patient. All of our Emergency Department personnel have been trained regarding the diagnosis and treatment of all types of acute stroke, including tPA in acute ischemic stroke.
