High-Risk Pregnancy Experts
While women don’t usually plan on high-risk pregnancies, there is always the chance of the unexpected. You can rest assured that our doctors are leaders in neonatal intensive care as well as high-risk obstetric care. As the regional referral center for high-risk pregnancy, St John Hospital and Medical Center has the expertise and technology to care for pregnant women with special needs.
If complications arise during pregnancy, St John Hospital’s perinatologists are on hand to deliver the highly specialized care that’s needed for these higher-risk situations. St. John Hospital’s perinatologists also oversee on-site prenatal testing including advanced procedures like amniocentesis, advanced ultrasound, genetic counseling and non-stress tests.
If your baby needs special care in the NICU or at home, we offer Together Let’s Cope, a support group of parents in similar situations.
Breastfeeding Support Services at The Nurturing Nook
Our Lactation Consultants are dedicated to assisting you throughout your breastfeeding experience, both in the hospital, and after you return home. In April 2008, we opened the St. John Health Outpatient Breastfeeding Clinic, which assists mothers with all issues associated with breastfeeding.
The Nurturing Nook (located in the same office as the Outpatient Breastfeeding Clinic) offers breast pumps for rental and purchase as well as other accessories relating to breastfeeding, in addition to nursing bras. Outpatient consultations are available by appointment, Monday through Friday. Business hours are Monday-Friday, 10:00 am-4:00 pm. Outpatient Breastfeeding Clinic hours are Wednesday mornings from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. We can be reached at 313-343-3146.
