Over the past several months, St. John Hospital and Medical Center (SJH&MC) has opened 144 private patient rooms in the Van Elslander Pavilion. Rooms have been designed with families in mind, and include beautiful furniture and fixtures, private bathrooms and sofas, and a flat-screen television. The privacy of the rooms is enhanced by sound absorbing materials that help maintain a quiet and peaceful environment.
The most recent floor, 7 North, which opened in June, takes amenities to a new level, with a Rehabilitation Services Satellite room and the Body Spa program for patients undergoing orthopedic, spinal, or neurosurgery procedure. The space has an open treatment area for group and individual exercise, gait training, stair training, and patient education. All patients receive a special outfit to wear during their stay, instead of a hospital gown. Additionally, patients on the floor can choose to receive free massages, manicures and hair styling, and also receive a gourmet meal for themselves and a guest during their recuperation.
