St. John Senior Community

St. John Senior Community is currently accepting residents who require care for:

  • Short term rehabilitation
  • Skilled nursing care
  • Long term care
  • Residential living accommodations
  • Assisted living accommodations

Residents can move from one level to another as their medical needs change (subject to bed availability), secure in the knowledge that their friends and familiar staff are nearby. No other eastside facility offers such a complete continuum of care on one site.

 

Residential Care

For residents who are essentially independent and capable of completing all of the following activities of daily living with minimal or no assistance:

  • Dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene (washing, brushing teeth, shaving, using deodorant, etc.)
    Park-like Setting

    Rose GardenResidents, family and friends enjoy walking in our park-like grounds. The campus is surrounded by beautiful tree-shaded walkways which lead to patios and gazebos. Our Memorial Rose Garden includes a gazebo surrounded by beautiful roses that is the perfect setting for visiting, or for peaceful solitude.

  • Taking prescription and over-the-counter medications.
  • Bathing at appropriate intervals.
  • Eating three meals a day and remembering meal times.
  • Ambulating with or without a cane, walker, or wheelchair.
  • Toileting (both bladder and bowel).
  • Remaining alert and aware of directions, activities, time, etc.
  • Monitoring health status; being sensitive to changes and arranging for medical care as needed.

Residential Care candidates must be able to use an elevator or stairway. Activities and social events are available both inside and outside the building. Wheelchair transportation is easily accommodated.

Assisted Living

Provided on the Residential Unit and is appropriate for residents requiring supervised assistance with activities of daily living:

  • Assistance with dressing, grooming, or personal hygiene.
  • Assistance with a medication routine.
  • Assistance with bathing or showering.
  • Minimal bladder incontinence care.
  • Nursing interventions or health management services such as taking blood pressure or monitoring blood sugar; pacemaker checks; arranging appointments with physicians, laboratories, etc.
  • Orientation services such as meal reminders; directions to a room or activity; time, day or date; encouragement to attend activities, appointments, etc.
  • Residents must be able to transport to, and eat meals, in the dining room without assistance. They should also be capable of participating in social activities.

Nursing Care

Offered on all three floors of our licensed skilled nursing facility, which provides 24-hour care to residents requiring any of the following:

  • A wander-proof environment.
  • Care for conditions rendering the resident in need of extensive assistance and care beyond an acute episode.
  • Administration of oral or injectable medications requiring frequent or complex monitoring or intervention.
  • Assistance with feeding or swallowing difficulties.
  • Care for significant behavioral conditions.
  • Frequent bladder or bowel incontinence care. Monitoring of an unstable medical condition.
  • Assistance with transfers to or from a bed, toilet, wheelchair, etc. Procedures required to be performed by a licensed nurse.
  • Nursing residents receive assistance with ambulation and may take meals in their rooms.

Activities and Amenities

Hair SalonActivities are offered on each floor; special events are held regularly in the Courtyard and Dining Room and the Physical Therapy Room. Full rehabilitative services are available. Other amenities include gift shop, library, beauty shop, activities and music therapy, dentist, podiatrist, spiritual care, behavioral services, and support groups.
