Ceramics: the art of playing with clay The Ceramics Studio at the Assarian Cancer Center offers patients, families and the community a dynamic environment for learning, playing, sharing and creating. What can you do with a little bit of raw clay? Play. Create. Explore. Discover. Taking a piece of clay and just working it between your fingers provides a tactile experience like none other. Pounding the clay, molding and shaping it can be a wonderfully cathartic process. And taking home a finished product, created from a lump of clay that was formed, textured, colored and glazed, is its own reward. Providence Center for the Healing Arts Artist-in-Residence Judy Buresh, a talented ceramics artist, glaze chemist, and teacher offers open studio time in the Ceramics Studio at the Assarian Cancer Center. This small space is a fully functional ceramics studio equipped with clay, glazes, and potter's wheel for throwing, kiln, spray booth, damp cabinet and all manner of tools and implements for creating art out of clay. The ceramics studio offers opportunities for all types of projects large and small. So, get your hands dirty! Have Fun! Sign up today and escape the everyday and mundane while exploring your creativity in a three-dimensional art form.
