Richard D. Fessler, MD
Dr. Fessler is a Neurosurgeon, MHSI Michigan Head & Spine Institute, PC, and Associate Professor, Department of Neurological Surgery, Wayne State University School of Medicine.
Dr. Fessler attended medical school at the University of Michigan and was trained in neurological surgery at Wayne State University. He obtained additional specialty training in cerebrovascular surgery in Japan and has completed a two year fellowship in neuroendovascular surgery.

Todd Y. Nida, MD
Dr. Nida is a general neurosurgeon and has a broad range of experience treating adult neurological disorders. His expertise is in the management of complex spinal problems involving the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar-sacral areas. Evaluation always starts with a thorough history and examination, state-of-the-art imaging, and when necessary, the application of advanced spinal surgical techniques (microscopic and minimally-invasive). Pain from vertebral osteoporotic or pathological fractures has been successfully minimized with Kyphoplasty. Miguelangelo J. Perez-Cruet, MD
Dr. Perez-Cruet is a board-certified neurosurgeon and member of MHSI. His special interest and subspecialty training is in the minimally-invasive treatment of spinal disorders of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. Dr. Perez-Cruet is also highly skilled in minimally-invasive spinal fusion, treatment of compression fractures, oncologic and degenerative spine conditions and other complex spinal disorders. Daniel R. Pieper, MD
A board certified neurosurgeon, Dr. Pieper is experienced in treating adult and pediatric patients with a broad range of neurological disorders. With expertise in cerebrovascular and skull base surgery, patients are treated with state of the art techniques including endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysms and radiosurgery for the treatment of some tumors and brain vascular malformations. Teck-Mun Soo, MD
Dr. Soo is the current Section Chief of Neurosurgery at Providence Hospital. Dr. Soo underwent neurosurgical residency and neurosurgical spine fellowships at the University of Toronto. Dr. Soo was a faculty member at the University of Toronto, Neurosurgical Department before he joined Providence Hospital in 1999. Currently, Dr. Soo is an assistant clinical professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Soo subspecializes in complex spinal surgery especially revision spine surgery for failed previous spinal surgery. He takes a conservative approach toward the treatment of neurosurgical spinal disorders. Patients are encouraged to fully explore conservative treatment before undergoing surgery. Dr. Soo believes in family involvement and the integration of family support in a patient's care and recovery. Peter L. Bono, DO
Dr. Bono specializes in minimally invasive percutaneous spinal surgery. With his Orthopedic background, Dr. Bono also specializes in spinal deformity, especially in idiopathic scoliosis, being proficient at both anterior and posterior approaches to scoliosis reconstruction. He is certified for implantation of the Charite artificial disc replacement and also involved as a co-
investigator of the cerivcore cervical artificial disc replacement. Dr. Bono is the top surgeon in the country in the volume of Kyphoplasty performed. Dr.Bono was chosen by the "Guide to Top Orthopedists" in 2007.
Other procedures include percutaneous fusion, diskectomy, laminectomy, vertebroplasty, and kyphoplasty. The minimally invasive technique employs the use of endoscopes to minimize tissue retraction and thus, minimizing the postoperative muscle spasms, pain, and scarring. Patients typically have a much faster recovery.
Dr. Bono believes that surgery is the last resort for the treatment of spinal disorders, especially when fusion is required. He believes in working with the patient's preference, lifestyle and the involvement of the family in the decision making process.
His specialty is in complex spine surgery, including adult and pediatric spinal disorders. Most spinal disorders are degenerative, pediatric scoliosis is relatively uncommon. His year of fellowship at the New York Hospital for joint diseases had adequately prepared him to deal with this condition.
Roderick Claybrooks, MD
Dr. Claybrooks' specialty is complex spine surgery, including adult and pediatric spinal disorders. Dr. Claybrooks trained under the supervision of both neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons in his fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where he gained insight in the surgical treatment of complex spine disorders. Dr. Roderick Claybrooks was chosen by the "Guide to Top Orthopedists" in 2007.

Dr. Babu is fellowship trained in Otology and Neurotology from the Michigan Ear Institute in Farmington Hills, MI. He completed his Otolaryngology Residency at Henry Ford Health System after receiving his medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. Dr. Babu has clinical interests in ear surgery, hearing loss and reconstruction, dizziness, cochlear implants, acoustic neuromas and skull base lesions, facial nerve weakness in kids and adults. Dr. Babu has several publications in these areas. Dr. Dennis I. Bojrab is a Board certified otolaryngologist-Head and Neck Surgeon. Dr. LaRouere is fellowship trained in otology, neurotology and skull base surgery. His special interests include chronic ear disease, dizziness and balance, acoustic tumors, facial nerve disorders, and breast cancer.
Dr. LaRouere is currently the President of the Michigan Otolaryngological Society and the Section Chief of Neurotology at Providence Hospital. He is also a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery where he serves on the Board of Governors representing the ear, nose and throat physicians from the State of Michigan. He is also active in the American Neurological Society. He is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor at Wayne State University.
Dr. LaRouere has received numerous honors and awards including being cited in the Best Doctors in the Midwest and in Michigan. He recently received the Honor Award from the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, which acknowledged his many academic contributions to the field of otolaryngology.
Dr. LaRouere has published numerous scientific articles on the ear and related topics. He is a frequent lecturer nationally and sits on the review panel for several journals in the field of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. Current research interests include balance dysfunction, facial paralysis, chronic ear disease and tinnitus. Recently he developed tinnitus tapes which have been approved for use in combating ringing in the ears.

Dr. Sargent has an interest in chronic ear disease, skull base surgery, and acoustic neuroma, he also has a particular interest in cochlear implantation. His research interests include the functional impact of unilateral hearing loss and the diagnosis and treatment of migraine-related dizziness.
John J. Zappia, MD
Dr. John J. Zappia is a Board-Certified Otolaryngologist/Head and Neck Surgeon. He recieved his medical degree from the University of Michigan. After general surgical internship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, he completed an N.I.H. funded research fellowship at the Kresge Hearing Research Institute in Ann Arbor. Dr. Zappia completed his Otolaryngogology/Head and Neck Surgery training at the University of Michigan and went on to train further in Otology/Neurotology/Skull Base Surgery at the Michigan Ear Institute.
Dr. Zappia practiced in the Chicago area with the Chicago Otology Group and with the depatment of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at Northwestern Medical Center. In 1997, he joined the Michigan Ear Institute.
His basic research work has been on ototoxic effects of medications, cochlear nerve implant prototypes and the effects of cochlear implants on the human cochlea. Dr. Zappia's numerous publications have included many facets of otology/neurotology including intraoperative monitoring, audiometric testing, treatment of tinnitus, acoustic neuromas, intraoperative hearing preservation, chronic ear disease, and treatment of vertigo.
