Minimally Invasive Surgery - Ear, Nose and Throat

Robert A. Fishman, MD
Hospital Privileges: St. John Hospital and Medical Center, St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital
Dr. Fishman has been practicing for 20 years at the Lakeshore Ear, Nose and Throat Center. Dr. Fishman has a special interest in the treatment of sinus disorders, sleep apnea and snoring. Sinus Surgery has evolved through those years to the point now where surgery is done with endoscopes through the nose rather than through incisions made in the face or mouth. This is called Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, which is "minimally invasive" as compared to traditional sinus operations. Endoscopic sinus surgery has been done in this country since about 1986. Dr. Fishman was one of the first otolaryngologists to perform this surgery in the state of Michigan in 1987. He has also served on the faculty at the University of Michigan Endoscopic Sinus surgery program in the past and has lectured extensively on the subject. Dr. Fishman performs his surgery with the latest equipment and "state of the art" 3-dimensional computer image guidance equipment. Dr. Fishman practices with Lakeshore Ear Nose Throat Center, PC, consisting of a group of nine physicians practicing in the field of otolaryngology, and head and neck cancer surgery. Our practice is unique in comparison to other private practices in the Detroit area as each of our physicians offer sub-specialties in different areas of otolaryngology. Practice subspecialities include: head and neck oncology, nasal allergy and sinus disorders, neurotology, facial nerve disorders, pediatric ENT care and airway management, and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
