St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center  completed a study that showed that women who were given a drug called Herceptin® in combination with chemotherapy had a 52 percent decrease in disease recurrence. more

• Physicians at St. John Hospital and Medical Center perform live-donor, minimally-invasive kidney transplants with innovative robotic surgical equipment.

Providence Hospital recently installed an advanced 3-D neuro imaging system. The new X-ray system improves exam accuracy by providing physicians with fast, high-quality clinical images of blood vessels one millimeter and smaller with precise detail.

• One of the world’s fastest and the most powerful medical imaging devices is being used at Providence Hospital in Southfield. Known as 3-Tesla MRI, the system is twice as powerful and faster than standard MRI machines. 3-Tesla MRI dramatically enhances diagnostic images, making it possible to more accurately diagnose routine and hard-to-detect conditions such as heart vessel problems, stroke, aneurysms, prostate cancer and spinal cord lesions.

St. John Hospital and Medical Center’s Breast MRI and digital mammography facilities offer the most comprehensive breast cancer screenings in southeast Michigan. more

• At St. John Hospital and Medical Center , innovative laser technologies are now used in treatments for peripheral artery disease, preventing an estimated 50 percent of surgically indicated amputations.

• A new intensive care unit that enhances the care of the most critically ill patients is now open at St. John Oakland Hospital in Madison Heights. The new $2.3 million ICU expanded from nine beds to 12, featuring a full range of critical care services including medical, surgical and cardiac care.

• A refurbished $3.3 million endoscopy unit offering patients the most advanced care is now open at Providence Hospital in South.eld. The unit provides a full range of the latest diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for the digestive and renal systems.

St. John Hospital and Medical Center offers Intravascular Ultrasound, the .rst technology to enable real-time assessment of the composition of plaque in the coronary arteries.

St. John Hospital and Medical Center offers Kyphoplasty, an advanced, minimally invasive technique used to restore vertebra damaged or injured by osteoporosis or cancer.
