Regional Tele-Health Network
There is a national shortage of highly trained physicians with subspecialty expertise in Neurosciences critical care. So in an effort to provide St. John Health System's vast knowledge base to remote regional locations, the Van Elslander Neurosciences Centers at Providence and Providence Park Hospitals will initiate the first phase of remote presence technology in early 2010.
This Regional Tele-Health Network allows St. John Health System's specialists to virtually visit patients' bedsides through the use of wireless internet coverage. A Regional Stroke Network is being deployed as part of the broader Tele-Health Network, which will launch in January 2010. Funding for the acquisition of equipment was made in large part by a generous gift by Mr. Van Elslander through the St. John Health Foundation.
