Balance and Falls Clinic

The Balance and Falls Clinic of St. John Health System has been internationally recognized for the diagnosis and treatment of balance disorders.

During one carefully coordinated visit, you will be assessed by a cross-functional team of experts, including a neurologist, movement disorder specialist, physiatrist, and physical therapist as well as a neurosurgeon and occupational therapist, when necessary.

As one of only a few facilities like it in the United States, the St. John Health System Balance and Falls Clinic provides the latest diagnostic testing, treatment, and therapy protocols to restore your quality of life.

Coupling the highest quality, distinguished care while advancing medical research and education, the Balance and Falls Clinic's experienced team of experts has earned national and international acclaim for their outstanding diagnostic, surgical and research achievements.

Dedicated to helping you understand the cause of your balance problems, they will go above and beyond to explain whether medical treatment, surgery or rehabilitation is needed to improve your overall balance function. The most common balance disorders include Meniere’s disease, positional vertigo, vestibular neuritis and post traumatic dizziness.

As one of the top 10 misdiagnosed conditions, positional vertigo (or severe dizziness) affects 50% of adults at some point in their lifetime, and 70% of those affected are women. An illness that is caused by tiny loose crystals that become dislodged in the inner ear and float around causing irritation, positional vertigo can be debilitating, and suffers can fall without warning, causing major injury in some cases.
