Physical Therapy

NRS physical therapyIndividuals may experience physical challenges following a traumatic brain injury. This may be evidenced by a loss of joint flexibility, lack of muscle control, problems with balance and coordination, pain, difficulty walking, or other challenges. These challenges may affect your abilitiy to perform activities of daily living. Your Physical Therapist can assist you in resolving these problems.

Using a variety of techniques, treatment will focus on maximizing your physical functioning. Treatments may include one or more of the following:

  • balance/coordination activities
  • gait/transfer training
  • postural improvement
  • strengthening/flexibility exercises
  • muscle re-education
  • orthotic/prosthetic device instruction/training
  • home exercise program instruction
  • manual therapy techniques
  • equipment recommendations
  • modalities (heat, ultrasound, traction, massage, etc.)

Each program is individualized to meet your particular needs and therapeutic goals. Family education is provided to insure family members are familiar with safe transfers and the correct manner in providing mobility assistance.

Physical Therapy utilizes a team approach with other involved disciplines to ensure your goals are met on an individual basis.
