Sleep Studies Center

Are you nodding off at inappropriate times? Do you always feel tired? Are you a loud, frequent snorer? If so, you may be one of 70 million Americans who suffers from a sleep disorder.

A sleep disorder is a condition that affects the quality in which you sleep. Sleep disorders can interfere with your normal patterns of sleep. Serious symptoms of the most common sleep disorders include frequent naps during the day, morning headaches, breathing irregularities, and/or sleeping seven or eight hours and still not feeling energized.

St. John River District Hospital offers a Sleep Studies Center that evaluates and diagnoses a full range of sleep disorders. Some common sleep disorders are sleep apnea, insomnia, restless leg syndrome, narcolepsy, and periodic limb movement disorder. Other disorders include sleepwalking, bed-wetting, and night tremors.

During a sleep study, a patient stays overnight in a private, homelike suite, where the patient is observed while he or she sleeps by a sleep technician. The sleep studies suites include a queen sized bed, television, private rest room, coffee maker, snacks, and much more. The sleep study typically runs for six to eight hours while the patient sleeps.

If you think you have a sleep disorder you should contact your physician. For more information about the Sleep Studies Center, please call (810) 329-5365.
