Fontbonne Auxiliary
The Fontbonne Auxiliary is a major volunteer fundraising organization for St. John Hospital and Medical Center (SJH&MC). Established in 1947, the organization is named for Mother St. John Fontbonne of the Sisters of St. Joseph, a sponsoring congregation of SJH&MC.
What Does the Fontbonne Do?

The Fontbonne raises money through events such as the annual Spring Fashion Show and White Christmas Ball as well as through proceeds from “Le Fontbonne Shoppe,” the hospital's gift shop. Over the years, the Auxiliary has donated millions of dollars to assist SJH&MC in meeting the community's medical needs and becoming one of the region's leading health care providers. Its contributions have:
- purchased much-needed equipment to help save lives
- helped expand a program for the deaf and hearing impaired
- contributed to the growth of St. John's world-class cardiac care programs
- purchased Omnibeds for neonatal patients (the beds combine a radiant warmer and incubator in one unit)

The Fontbonne is made up of dynamic, energetic people from diverse backgrounds. Members make an immeasurable difference in the lives of others through their hard work and team effort. Working together for the common good, they enjoy the camaraderie of dedicated, caring people. “Friend-raising” is as much a part of Fontbonne as fundraising.
Who Leads the Fontbonne?
Fontbonne operates under the leadership of its officers and board of directors but relies on the active participation of its members to ensure the success of the numerous projects and events.
