Career Profiles: Health Unit Coordinator

What do they do?

A unit coordinator is responsible for providing secretarial support for all employees within an assigned nursing unit.  They also maintain and update patient records for a given unit.

Where do they work?

Usually in the hospital.

Educational Requirements

A high school diploma and vocational training through a health unit coordinator program.  A health unit coordinator certificate is preferred.
